Although the basic Black Mammoth costs 300 shards, the grand one is an uncommon drop from 25-man Archavon, making this achievement very luck based.

Let me guess: you play on a private server? If you're too cheap to pay for the upkeep of the server you can't complain about lag. confirmed: in another post he mentions that he plays on a private server
I'm about to get this achievement, and I really, really wish there was some sort of reward. More achievement points or a title. Wintergrasp is something that's really close to my heart, and I would be thrilled to be walking around titled a "Master".
