I can confirm that the "trick" for hard mode still works in DF.
- Hit HK-8 once
- Kill Tank Buster
- Run to the dungeon entrance
- Run to the boss when Annihilation Blast cast is done
- Run to the active platform
- Click on the pylon and hack the boss
- Kill the boss
It may take a few attempts. Sometimes he is chain-resetting, sometimes it works right away.
Some more information to increase your success rate:
- If you have low movement (like paladin), try to use something like runspeed enchantments, potions, phials
- Try to have things like Sprint ready when the Annihilation Blast is done to get to him as quickly as possible
- You can shortcut your way back by jumping over the fence of the platform at the dungeon entrance
- You don't have to be exactly in front of the dungeon entrance. It is enough to stand next to the big platform in Rustbolt

Easy Solo for Level 70 Dragonflight & Beyond...
1) Begin fight.
2) Kill initial robot.
3) HK-8 begins Annihilation Cast, run to the glowing pylons on the ramp off to the right or left side.
4) Avoid the bots as you run up, as well as the lit up ground, and then run DIRECTLY into the center of the top pylon.
5) You will avoid the bots and damage here.
6) Click on the pylon to begin hack casting. Do not move or cancel the cast. This will take some time...
7) HK-8 stops his annihilation cast and drops to the ground.
8) Run on down and nuke boss asap.
9) ?
10) Profit. Boss has been killed and you can finally move onwards in Operation: Mechagon.
Currently I found a bug where you cannot hack the pylons to bring the boss down. Was able to replicate this twice in a row. If anyone has found a way around this let everyone know.
