The hardest part of the materials to collect for this cape is the 12x Brilliant Chromatic Scales (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=12607) which drop most redily in UBRS off of the chromatic dragons during the Rend and Drakkisath events

You can get this recipe from the Goblin in Dire Maul North, you have to get the key to remove the chain from his leg. After you do that he runs off and leaves alittle box, open that and it will have several things in it, it will always have a recipe of some kind though.

They're definitely not attainable anymore. I play on two servers, and over the past 3 months, the only ones I've seen in the AH are being posted over and over by the same sellers at sky-high prices. I check the AH daily for recipes, and these things just aren't showing up anymore. Downrank if you want -- There is no data supporting that these items still drop. Show me exactly where this thing can be found on an existing loot table. (Hint: You can't, because it's simply non-existent outside Knot's cache, which no longer exists). I'd love to be proved wrong on this. Show me some e

Within a week after 4.0.3a dropped, I saw some of the other patterns from the cache as dropping from random mobs in Dire Maul (when you looked at their specific loot on this website). It's possible that they just have a small chance of dropping from anything in there. I'm still seeing these quite a bit on the AH on my server, and not for the inflated prices one might expect if there weren't a fairly ready supply of them. I saw these changes on the Wowhead data that is now available through the archive link up at the top. Blizzard seems to have made an effort to move things around the loot tabl

No evidence? I've already made a pretty solid case, in terms of evidence.

A) Empirical Research: 3 months worth (at the time of posting) of daily AH searching over two servers, which yielded no new sighting of these patterns.

B) I pointed out that it's not available in existing loot tables. This data (or lack thereof) if readily available to anybody, just by checking the "Dropped by" tab on Wowhead. You'll notice this pattern, and its sibling patterns from Knot's Cache, don't have such a tab, making it easy to conclude that it doesn't drop from mobs.

If I came off as "aggressive", it's only because my comment was being down ranked, in spite of me making a perfectly reasonable claim, backed by evidence.

I don't know what other proof I could reasonably drum up. I'm not going to don a white lab coat and write a thesis on the subject because, you know, it's just a video game.

Verified this with a GM today. This pattern is no longer available in game. Hope this helps clear up a few things. So, if you see it pop up on the AH and you want to actually be able to make it, buy it. Because the longer you wait, the more chances someone else will.

If the patterns exist out there it is because people have them on old characters prior to Cata release. Point of fact: Knot Thimblejack's Cache was the only place this pattern appeared in game, along with other rare patterns and gear, and the cache can no longer be opened even if you have the key. See thread on cache. So long and thanks for all the fish!
