Tried Felwood myself to look for this particular herb. I began at the north end, heading south while zig-zagging along the map. Did not see a single Purple Lotus.
Just as I was starting to worry that my trip had been pointless, I hit the Ruins of Constellas, and surely enough, I found four or so bushels to herb.
Didn't seem to me like there were as many Purple Lotus as people seem to be saying, but it was there nonetheless - Enough to make my Alchemy stone thing anyway.

Best place to farm purple lotus is now five spawn areas in felwood, a trip trough them all gave me one full stack.
Felwood does still spawn Purple Lotus.
Just above the Ruins of Constellas where the druids are fighting the demons, there are around 6 spawn places. I farmed them as a lvl39 rogue, there are no enemy mobs around that attack you. It is probably the best place to farm them for lower lvls.
