Sanguithorn Farming Route: Where to Farm Midnight's Rank-Premium Herb
Sanguithorn has the widest quality-rank price gap of the six Midnight herbs. Here is where it spawns, the route shapes that work in Zul'Aman and Eversong Woods, and the build that turns gathering skill into gold.
Most herb routes are written as if every Sanguithorn were worth the same. That is the expensive mistake. Sanguithorn comes in two ranks,
Sanguithorn and
Sanguithorn, and the Gold rank has traded at a large multiple of the Silver rank for most of Midnight Season 2. The herb you gather and the rank you gather it at are two separate economic decisions, and this route is built around the second one.
The other thing worth knowing up front: Midnight changed the spawning rules. Unlike The War Within, every base herb spawns in every Midnight zone. You are not hunting a Sanguithorn zone. You are hunting the zone where Sanguithorn is densest and where the nodes are safest to pick, and those are two different questions with the same two answers.
Where to farm Sanguithorn
Zul'Aman is the density pick. It carries the strongest Sanguithorn spawning of the four zones, and its Wild deposits make it the double-gatherer's zone: herbalists and miners share the same loops. The price is combat. The zone is thick with trolls and the deposits can spawn guardians, so a tank spec or a stealth class saves real time here. If you can shrug off aggro, Zul'Aman is the best Sanguithorn per hour in the expansion.

Eversong Woods is the smoothness pick. The terrain is open, the mob density around nodes is low, and the ring road that circles the zone makes a natural farming loop you barely have to think about. You give up some density against Zul'Aman, and in exchange you get a route you can run while half watching something else. Eversong is also the Lightfused zone, so herbers here pick up Motes of Light from the infused nodes along the way, where Zul'Aman runs pay out in Wild deposit materials instead.

Harandar and Voidstorm grow Sanguithorn too, and every zone-spawn rule above applies. They are not on this route list for simple reasons: Harandar's vertical terrain and dense mob pockets make it the most annoying zone in the expansion to gather, and Voidstorm's dangers around its Voidbound nodes cost more time than the herbs return unless you specifically want void motes. Neither beats the two zones above at the specific job of farming this herb.
The route shape that works
You do not need coordinates. You need a loop that matches node respawn timing, and both zones support one.
In Zul'Aman, ride the basin perimeter and dip into each shrine clearing as you pass it, then cut over the northern hills before restarting the circuit. A full perimeter takes long enough that the first nodes have respawned by the time you come back around. If you are clearing fast and the circuit finishes early, weave through the middle of the basin on alternate laps rather than waiting.
In Eversong Woods, run the ring road and swing into the coastal strand and the lake shores on each pass, because herbs favor the water edges. Cut through the western ruins when the ring feels dry. The loop is longer than Zul'Aman's but faster per node, and the Lightfused nodes sit off the road more often than on it.
Two rules apply in both zones. Pick Lush nodes whenever you see them, because they multiply the haul and cost only seconds. And do not skip Silver-rank nodes on principle: the rank you pull depends on your skill and stats, and every Sanguithorn you leave standing is a node that is not respawning as a possibly better one.
The build that decides your rank
Because the money is in the Gold rank, spend your Herbalism Knowledge Points on the tree that raises rank odds before anything that merely raises speed.
- Thorn Thresher first. It is the Sanguithorn-side specialization and the reason a dedicated route out-earns a general one.
- Bountiful Harvests second, for yield on the herbs your route already produces.
- Botany third, for the flat gathering stat floor.
- Cultivation last, for the seed and rich-soil mechanics that fill downtime between nodes.
The mount question, answered honestly
The Sky Golem cannot gather while mounted in Midnight. This is not a bug that will be reverted, so plan around it. Druids are the farming class this expansion for the same reason as every previous one: instant Flight Form means a node-to-node rhythm nothing else matches. Everyone else mounts, dismounts, fights what aggroed, and remounts, and that tax is exactly why the smooth Eversong loop exists as an option.
The rank math, live
The numbers move, so read them as a relationship rather than a price.
| Herb | Rank 1 | Rank 2 | What the gap means |
|---|---|---|---|
| 35 silver | 18 gold42 silver | The whole case for this route | |
| 1 gold82 silver | 17 gold76 silver | The other skill-rewarding herb | |
| 1 gold82 silver | 2 gold31 silver | Rank barely matters, farm it for volume |
And keep one eye out for
Nocturnal Lotus on any route. Nocturnal Lotus is the rare Perception-gated find of the herb set and it prices like it. Do not plan around it. Pick it when the game hands it to you.
Checking this yourself
The live herb price board shows both ranks of all six Midnight herbs with hourly refresh from the auction house data. Before a farm session, compare the two Sanguithorn columns and the supply depth, then decide whether tonight is a rank-pushing night or a volume night. The materials index is the same check for everything else you might gather instead.
FAQ
Is Zul'Aman or Eversong Woods better for Sanguithorn?
Zul'Aman for raw Sanguithorn per hour if you can handle the combat. Eversong Woods for a calmer loop that also produces Motes of Light. Skilled combat classes should pick Zul'Aman, everyone else loses less than they think in Eversong.
Can I farm Sanguithorn in Harandar or Voidstorm?
Yes. All five base herbs spawn in all four Midnight zones in this expansion. Those two zones just pay worse for this specific herb once terrain and mob pressure are counted.
Why does Sanguithorn have two prices?
The two entries are two quality ranks sold as separate items. Higher gathering skill and Perception raise the odds of the Gold rank, which is why the knowledge point build on this page starts with the rank-focused tree.
Do I need a Druid to farm herbs seriously?
No, but the Sky Golem nerf makes Druids clearly fastest. Any class farms Eversong Woods efficiently. In Zul'Aman, a tanky or stealthy character closes most of the same gap.
How much is Nocturnal Lotus worth on a Sanguithorn route?
Nothing you should count on and occasionally a lot. It is a rare proc on Perception, priced accordingly. Treat every one as a bonus, never as part of the plan, for the same reason the herb ranking keeps it off the recommended list.
