this is the most random drop ever.. found it on a neutral tagged Taulbuk or w/e in Nagrand, and while farming for my spell dmg to bracer formula it droped off the ogres in blades edge... Just a random drop

This is not the case. Tank crit reduction comes from their Defence which will reduce the chance of crits to effectively zero anyway. This makes resilience useless. The issue for tanks then becomes crushing blows - learning to block is the most important thing here, stamina is next.

One thing you 'hardcore PvPers' dont understand is that you'll get healed if you're tanking in arenas (talking 5v5 mostly), and thats where resilience shines.

Say you have 15k hp and 0 resilience. You get crit bursted by everything, your healers don't react fast enough, you die. Yes, it IS possible to burst down 15k that fast. Go talk with some warriors that have Mooncleaver.

Now say you have 10k hp and 400 resilience. You get crit bursted, but you'll avoid getting a crit on you a few times plus you'll reduce all crit damage by about 20%. Your healers react fast enough and outheal all that damage. Resilience just saved your life.

The numbers on resilience might sound small, yeah, frankly I thought resilience was crap when I just started arenaing. Now I see resilience as the strongest PvP tanking stat. A must-have for any high prio target.

In fact, the effect of Crit reducing effects is even a bit higher as a lot of the dps-players abilities trigger by crit strikes. So every avoided crit usually also avoids additional damage in the follow up aswell. (too lazy to check that in detail though ^^)

Vote me down if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure crit based abilities do proc on would-be crits that were changed to a normal hit because of resilience. (At least I am 100% sure it works that way for the target; I've seen enrage proc several times on a normal hit because of it).

83701+6via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

No they wont, BUT blizz added a roll if you dont crit depending off your target's resilence to poc the crit effect. So resilence will not lower the chance for crits effects procs. Sorry don't have the blue post link at hand atm.

The point of resilience is just to avoid the "WTF the rogue just got 5 crits in a row" situations, that kinda ruin the pvp experience. You are not supposed to ruin your stamina and to become inmmune to crits, you are just supposed to be able to avoid the above situations.

At level 49, 15 resilience reduces chance by 0.76% and damage by 1.52%. Question: does that crit chance reduction come off the attackers crit chance or does it give a percentage chance of resisting a calculated crit? It makes a very big difference. Eg attacker has 15% crit chance. Your resilience rating gives a 10% reduction Scenario 1: their crit % reduces by 10%: 15 - 10 = 5.0% Scenario 2: 10% of landed crits are resisted: 15 * (100-10)% = 13.5%

frmorrison+1via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

With the numbers given above, the attacker will have 14.24% to crit on you and if he does crit, the attack will be reduced by 1.52%. If he crit you for 1000, because of the enchant that damage will become 984. The power of resilence really happens once you have 300+ and get some heals, but only 70s can get that much resilence. I would say this is the best PvP chest enchant at level 49.

Resilience is A+, do not underestimate it. I've read several comments now stating not to sacrifice stamina and HP for resilience because stamina is till the primary survivability stat. I'd agree that stamina is primary, however, resilience is very important, especially in PVP. Besides, it's almost impossible to "sacrifice" stamina to gain resilience. Most resilience gear (arena, and BG gear) is stacked with stamina. I consistently can "feel" the resilience in play when I fight players with a lot. My crits are lower, and happening noticeably less often. It's more than noticeable, it's a clear "feeling". I get that "ugghhh so much resilience" feeling trying to kill opponents. I was ignoring resilience for a while until I dueled another warrior and got owned hard. He had only 140 resilience to my ~40. I thought twice about resilience. I can get up to 150 resilience right now and pretty soon I'll be over 200. Having 150 resilience has drastically improved my survivability in arenas and BG. As an MS warrior, I'm almost as excited now to stack resilience as I am about stacking crit and AP. You can do all the math you want, but from personal experience, I can testify that resilience is playing a significant role for me. Even in PVE when im not in defense gear, I'm living longer with it.

frmorrison-2via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

If you get focused fired on a lot like a caster, this is better than 150 health. Another way to look at it is 150 health is like 15 stamina, which costs 10 item points, but 15 resilience costs 15 item points, so you are getting more item points out of the enchant. 6 to all stats, gives get 16 points (if you use 3 of the stats), so that may be a stronger enchant for some people.

I can most certainly agree with the poser above that resilience makes you live A LOT longer in battlegrounds/arenas. The very instant I got my first gladiator's +35 resilience set bonus for my warrior, I immediately noticed that I lived (at the very least) twice as long. I'm going to go stack a billion resilience on my warlock right now :D

33429-1via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

You're seeing things. While resilience is a decent stat to have, a handful of resilience isn't going to make you last twice as long. Even assuming a good situation (you have 5 resilience, your opponent has 30% crit) you're only going to live about 8% longer. Granted, in a 5v5 that 8% may be what stops burst damage from killing you, but it's not god mode.

6460-2via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

The resilience cap is 495. Anything above that provides no extra benefit. Same cap as the defense stat. When season 3 gear comes out make sure you can get as much of your resilience from armor budgets as you can - thus saving room for other abilities/enchants once you hit your Res cap. After you hit the cap, i'd say throw in some haste/spell haste (if you're melee or a caster) and you'd be on the cutting edge of Arena itemization. Once people are readily able to hit the cap you will see more PvE gear with haste/spell haste making appearances in the Arena.

83804+0via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

What you're missing is that players can have different crit chances improved by talents or gear, not like mobs in PvE. So the resilience cap would depend on the player you're fighting(on his crit chance). Some players can have over 40% crit chance(yes, it is completely possible), but it wouldn't be smart to stack so much resilience instead of other stats, because the chance of fighting a player with 40% or more crit chance is very low, more than one at a time is unbelievably low.

19356+0via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Defense doesn't "cap" at 495 - or 490 as you usually say to become "crit immune" to lvl 73, boss level, mobs. You can still get crit as the formula tops at 0.01% i believe. Defense values past 490 still adds block, dodge and parry.

MrSpaz+1via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

uh, no. Not against mobs. At 490, mobs won't crit you. At all. Defense value past 490 still gives block, dodge, and parry, but it's FAR less effective once past 490 than actual block, dodge, and parry stats, since those give more for their item points than defense does. The primary role of defense rating is to avoid being crit by mobs. Once you hit that cap, don't stack any more.

119842+9via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

There is no hard cap on resilience. Please stop spreading false information. There is a cap on the damage taken from a critical strike. It's 25% which equates to 492.5 resilience at level 70. Not 495. And there is absolutely no cap on DOT reduction or critical strike chance reduction.

90572+7via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

abilities that would proc off being a victim of a critical strike still apply even if your Resilience prevented the attack received from criting. This makes being a pain supression priest very easy to play.

137039-5via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

As a priest resilience is a must because rogues have a hardon for anything wearing cloth. Until they run into a clothie with over 400 resilience. I am at 405 with 11750hp(1300healing) and i feel like a brick wall. It is nothing to survive a rogue attack or focus fire even without Pain supression. I sugesst getting the green res+stam gems for your sockets.

126229+0via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

0, as this requires a level 35 or higher item. However, if you were able to get it onto a level 29's twink item somehow, it would provide roughly 1.48% chance less to be crit and 2.96% less damage from crits(basing on the formulas provided at wowwiki)

As of 3.0, this enchant remains one of the strongest PvP enchants, especially for those more-squishy classes. The +20 resilience enchant is not in the game. Once it is implemented, however, I will still be using this enchant, simply because i'm not paying for 50 dust for 5 more resilience.

Easy answer [item=38277]. It is the only chest in the game that can be worn by a level 1 and take a 35 enchant. I saw a level 10 troll priest by the name of Wuthaveidone from the Korgath server that had it. Go to us.battle.net/wow/en/ and type in Wuthaveidone@Korgath to view his profile. He carried the flag the whole match and just ran around healing and killing everyone. No one could even come close to killing him. I was on my twink hunter and I could not even make a dent in his health. I can usually kill a well geared level 10 that has all the boa gear he can have, with ease.
