Altered Beasts

Altered Beasts is a quest for level 15-30 in Winterspring. It is step 46 of 54 in the Winterspring storyline. The quest's turn-in marker is in Winterspring at 58.0, 63.8. It rewards 4,100 experience and money.

Description

We, the blue dragons, have been forced out of our home, Mazthoril. An impostor by the name of Umbranse has taken advantage of us in our weakest hour, and now occupies the cave.

Mazthoril is a place of extremely potent magic, and he does not know how to wield it. Even the wildlife suffers.

The beasts nearby have been altered. Please, <race>, I must ask you a favor. Gather their brains, so I can see if I can undo this Umbranse's wild magic.

When you are looking the mobs which drop these don't go to the tunnel. I visited there before I checked some help from here and there was nothing.

Mobs you are looking for can be found around the hills not far away from quest giver. They look pretty much like ordinary critters (rabbits, light blue foxes) like Ainasni said.

This quest also leads to The Owlbeasts' Defense.

If you've looted several and nothing has dropped, just keep going. It isn't a 100% drop rate. I went about 5 in with nothing and was concerned I was wasting my time, turns out they just have no other loot and the brain is not a guarantee.

It's all ready, <name>! Now, I told my friend Legacki that I have a surprise for her. This is where you come in! I'm going to give you my mechanical yeti, and you'll get the honor of using it to surprise her. She's just on the other side of Everlook, near the inn.

What a shame. Whatever Umbranse has done, he has prevented me from undoing his magic. He is wiser than I had anticipated. I do have a backup plan, however. I have seen owlbeasts enter and leave Mazthoril, even after Umbranse took control.
