This quest can be obtained after turning in An Urgent Matter to [npc=198884].

Players bring their [item=203475] to the ramparts at the back of Stormwind Keep, as instructed. Once there, they can see a [object=395704] at the base of the wall, and a Defias Rope leading to the top. A [npc=198885] can be seen kneeling over the lifeless body of a [npc=198886] while Mathias begins to detail the situation.
Master Mathias Shaw says: This was a very bold move by the Defias Brotherhood, especially since they have been relatively quiet since the last attack of the Legion.
Master Mathias Shaw says: The artifact they stole... I shudder to think what they intend with it. We must move quickly, <name>!
The player heads to the basement of the Lion's Pride Inn where [npc=198896] is waiting for them.
Master Mathias Shaw says: Over here, <name>. Let me know when you're ready to speak to our informant.

When turning in this quest, rogues receive a different version of the dialogue than other players.Normal version:
Spoiler
<Tell Shaw to signal his informant.>
Shaw flashes a silver insignia in the dark.
Master Mathias Shaw says: I apologize if this is a bit of a surprise to you. To most, she was known to have fallen in the Deadmines...
Vanessa VanCleef says: But I'm not quite so easy to kill! Wonderful to see you again, so-called-hero!
[npc=198883] jumps out of the shadows and hits the player with a [spell=396359].
Master Mathias Shaw says: Vanessa...
Vanessa VanCleef says: I'm just having some fun, of course.
Master Mathias Shaw says: During the Legion's last invasion, Vanessa was a member of a... secretive order that aided in the defense of our world. Since then, the Defias have been quiet.
Master Mathias Shaw says: So then, Vanessa, why did your Defias steal the Drakefire Amulet from Stormwind Keep?
Vanessa VanCleef says: The what? If you're going to pin something on me, you have to do better than stringing some random words together.

Rogue version: *Note, this may only apply to rogues who have completed the appropriate Legion questline to become part of the Uncrowned.*Spoiler
<Flash your [item=136786].>
Shaw nods.
Master Mathias Shaw says: I think you will understand why we needed this meeting in secret, Shadowblade.
Vanessa VanCleef says: Because it's so wonderful to see you again, boss!
[npc=198883] jumps out of the shadows and hits the player with a [spell=396359].
Master Mathias Shaw says: Vanessa...
Vanessa VanCleef says: I'm just having some fun, of course.
Master Mathias Shaw says: Since the Legion, it seemed to me that Vanessa has been more focused on the Uncrowned than the Defias, and the Defias have been quiet.
Master Mathias Shaw says: So then, Vanessa, why did your Defias steal the Drakefire Amulet from Stormwind Keep?
Vanessa VanCleef says: The what? If you're going to pin something on me, you have to do better than stringing some random words together.

Two neat things about this quest:
- The quest takes place in the basement of the Lion's Pride Inn in Goldshire. That's THAT inn on Moon Guard, if you're not familiar. Once you enter the inn, the area is phased to an empty inn. That was a nice touch!
- If your character happens to be a Rogue who went through the Legion order hall campaign, you get alternate dialogue. You show your Uncrowned Insignia to Shaw, he says he has an "informant" and when Vanessa appears and stuns you he says "I think you see why we needed to have this meeting in secret, Shadowblade." where normally he'd explain "I apologize if this is a bit of a surprise to you. To most, she was last known to have fallen in the Deadmines." Vanessa says "Because it's so wonderful to see you again, boss!" instead of "But I'm not quite so easy to kill! Wonderful to meet you, so-called-hero!

Description
This is a top secret mission, {name}. We've had a break in. A powerful historical artifact was stolen from the Keep... and it looks like the Defias Brotherhood is to blame. We caught one thief, but the other got away. But I don't like it, {name}... my gut tells me there's more. I've called in a... specialist on the Brotherhood. Meet us in the basement of the Lion's Pride Inn in Goldshire.

Where this quest fits
Before this quest
Taken from the storyline's own step order.
- An Urgent Matter
Hello <name>. I was told to give you letter. The messenger mentioned it was urgent. The crest on it seems to be from SI:7. I would read it right away if I were you.
After this quest
Taken from the storyline's own step order.
- A Window to the Past
In this, I trust Vanessa's word. I do not believe she knows what the Drakefire Amulet is. Some of the story about Onyxia was made public, but not all. Perhaps even you do not know. I will explain everything, for both of you.
