If you die multiple times and decide to come back another day, you have to drop the quest and retake it or he won't pop.
Chill, you have all the time in the world, no need to rush. Avoid damage first, then deal damage. There are two abilities you should pay attention to and avoid:
1. [spell=302594] will be done in a cone in front of him. Move behind him.
2. [spell=302299] will fall on the swirlies on the ground. Move away from the swirlies. When he isn't doing these two abilities, dps him.

Description
It is as I feared. We cannot fuse the shards together until the Void has been driven from this place. Quickly, strike down these aberrations. I suspect the source of the corruption will not sit idle in response.
Where to go
Pins are the quest’s own POI points from the current retail client, projected onto the in-game zone map. The game marks one blob as the quest’s turn-in; the rest are objective areas. Points that fall outside a map’s window are dropped rather than guessed at.

Where this quest fits
Before this quest
Taken from the storyline's own step order.
- We Must Go Deeper
These shards can only do so much in their current state. They are broken and scattered... not unlike my kin. We must bring them together. Let us go deeper into the Emerald Dream. I know of a place where we can reforge the shards into a dragonscale.
After this quest
Taken from the storyline's own step order.
- The Stuff Dreams Are Made Of
All that remains is to throw the emerald fragments you collected into the lake. I will use my power to bind them together. If this works, they will be reforged into a powerful dragonscale that you can use to empower the Heart of Azeroth.
