Hopelessly Gearless (Alliance)

Hopelessly Gearless is an Alliance-only quest for level 30-35 in Shimmering Expanse. It is step 67 of 149 in the Vashj'ir, Kelp'thar Forest & Shimmering Expanse storyline. It rewards 3 reward items, 1 reputation reward, 4,800 experience and money.

Description

I honestly don't know how we've survived this long. The naga took my armor and weapons, and left me with rags and a mining pick... and THAT snapped in half long ago.

If we're to stand any hope of turning the tide, I'm going to need something to fight with... as will my companions, though they may be too proud to admit it.

I've seen weapon racks in the naga storage areas nearby. I'm not accustomed to fighting with a trident, but it'll sure be better than fighting with my fists.

Rewards

I believe the completion text:

"In my youth I was given some training on spearfighting.

'Stick them with the pointy end', I think it was.'"

is a reference to Jon giving pointers on swordfighting to Arya in A Game of Thrones. :)

Before this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • We Are Not AloneShimmering Expanse · Level 30-35

<Duarn closes his eyes, pauses, and nods.> Nespirah has just informed me that we are not the only people fighting inside of this shell. A small group of Alliance slaves has escaped and is currently fighting off the naga on the other side of the shell, up on the ledge that overlooks Nespirah's heart.

After this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • Body BlowsShimmering Expanse · Level 30-35

<Captain Taylor listens intently to your recount of Duarn and Nespirah's conversation.> I see. So the creature wants our help waking it up, is that it? With hundreds of slaves already picking away at her pearls, the beast seems to be a pretty heavy sleeper. You might have better luck, though.
