You actually see Vex'Tul when your killing the banshee to save Gidwin. Hes in the corner as a ghost.
If, like me, you came here wondering where the hell you were supposed to click to get the next quest in the chain ... There isn't one. At the end of this quest, the line "Wait, what's this? He must have dropped this on his way to the pyre" (or something along those lines) actually refers to the reward for this quest, a plate torso. Might sound obvious to some. However, I did this quest as a hunter, and thus was presented only with gold at the end of the quest, so I thought this line meant there should be an item on the ground to pick up to start the rest of the quest chain....

Description
This is the last time you will see me, {name}. I am leaving the caravan. If you want to continue fighting by my side, hang on to Thresh'jin's body. I can wait for a while longer. When you are ready to say goodbye, throw the body into the bonfire atop Zul'Mashar's ziggurat. Thank you for your companionship, {name}. You were strong.
