TheWoWDBI didn't find the quest made it clear where to find these (in Val'Sharah anyway)
The map marker shows them in an area that's full of harpies. I didn't find any basilisks in that area. Instead, they're around the edge of that area. E.g. if you go to 42,72 on the map you'll find them along a ridge right before the drop off toward the coast.

You may get there and wonder why you don't see any basilisks or basilisks corpses (like I did). If other people are there, they kill the basilisks and mine the corpses so that there appears to be no basilisks. The quest really does mark the correct area--you may have to just ride around the area for a bit until they start respawning.
