I had the same problem as well. Then somehow I did something that made it work.

Abandoned her quest. Picked it up again. Killed the cat. Logged out then back in. Suddenly the dialogue happened again with the priestess/whatever and then quest with Bwemba completed. Looks like you have to be standing right over the cat's body when that priestess/whatever lady disappears in a huff.

for those who kill Mauti several times, but the quest seems to be bugged:
exit game, delete cache folder, login, kill the cat and its completed.
