Opening the Test Kitchen

This quest can be a little confusing as it's using some new mechanics. Nomi's Silver Mackerel is found in a barrel next to the hearth (the fireplace). Once you have the fish, clicking on Nomi will give you the option to create a work order. Nomi will accept the work order and then you will be able to receive Recipe:Dried Mackerel Strips (Rank 2) by clicking the table in front of Nomi.

For the lore, folks who may not remember Nomi was your cooking apprentice in Pandaria.

Legion cooking has 3 main Nomi's Test Kitchen quests, several fast recipes questchains in the world and lots of similar world quests

   You have to find a cooking recipe in the world and [npc=101846] will spawn near you.
   Can be any recipe : quest reward/world drop/from some rare
   [npc=101846] will offer you this quest to find him in Dalaran.
   He is near the cooking trainer

   Take the barrel behind [npc=101846] and speak with him. He will offer you a work order
   Select the work order dialog option(2-nd) and give him 5 [item=133912].

So you got the access to the Nomi's Test Kitchen and it is the main way to discover most of the recipes and ranks

Nomi's Test Kitchen is a "work-order style" discovery.
You give Nomi some raw food, come back after 3h and he gives you some recipe or just burned gray item
Can give him up to 3 days of food work orders upfront.
Hints: don't give him to much of the same food.

I got most of my recipes with diversified work orders.
And i think there is a connection: you get the recipe of the food you give him.
So if you need feast, try to give him as many related ingredients as possible.
I gave him everything except Slice of Bacon
Lean Shank & Mossgill Perch & Stormray & Wildfowl Egg & [item=133564] repeated 4 times and got 3 [item=133578] recipes.
Maybe i was just lucky. I'm not sure 100% that it works this way.

Cooking World Quests

There are lots of similar Slab of Bacon quests
From my experience you need to have ~75 cooking to be able to get them

All of them are just "kill rare" take the reward.
The reward is 5 or 10 or 15 Slice of Bacon

Most of them are easy. 1 in Suramar was kinda hard to find.

I abandoned it several times but it remained bugged. So I abandoned it, shut the game down and deleted my WOW cache folder and then logged back in. I then took the quest again, and it worked perfectly.
