Actually, you need to do this quest to choose your faction. You will switch sides on it and at the end of a long line of quests you will get the chance to choose. (Even if you do not know you are at the time.) Go ahead and do the quests. You will still be able to choose sides.
Tracker Gekgek only offers this quest immediately after you kill Pitch (the mob standing right by him).
This quest sides you with Frenzyheart Tribe and against The Oracles. During your Frenzyheart quests, you'll eventually get Just Following Orders which abruptly switches you to Hostile with Frenzyheart, Friendly with Oracles. Fear not, this change is not permanent. You can always change which faction you are aligned with after the quest line is over.
