This was bugged for me as a hunter.

There were no descriptions of the abilities and no other mobs spawned after the first group.
I abandoned the quest and tried again, same thing happened.

Then I dismissed my pet and it worked flawlessly.
Submitted a ticket and the GM said it was a known issue and will be resolved in a future (hotfix ?) patch.

XP was nerfed apparently.
Great source of XP if you just do the defense over and over (exit vehicle before killing the last guy and then talk to the NPC to start again). At level 89, I got 6.5% for each defense, which took me about 1:40 on average, so it only took about 30 minutes for 89-90. I'm not sure if it's the same at other levels. I did 87-88 much faster because I was rested for most of the level.

Edit: I'm leveling another alt through the area, so I decided to make a slightly more thorough guide. First of all, I neglected to mention before that I'm wearing heirlooms, which affects XP gained. I don't have rings, but I get +45% from the head, shoulder, back, chest, and leg armors.

Secondly, I no longer kill the colossi that spawn, as they don't seem to give XP, and probably wouldn't be worth wasting time on even if they did. This cuts the time down from 1:40 to 1:16. So assuming you take 4 seconds to exit vehicle and start again (it's really faster than that though), and 6.59% XP per defense, it takes just over 15 defenses or about 20 minutes per level. Also, this time around, I'm still getting full XP at level 90. Last time I did this, it became insignificant as soon as I hit 90. XP reduced to 541 per mob at level 91 (was 668 at 90), or about 5% per defense. XP reduced again to 380 per mob, 3.5% per defense, at level 92. At this point, I decided to move on to Draenor.

Here is an imgur gallery I made showing where to aim each shot: https://imgur.com/a/S6IIT . Fire each shot as soon as the group it targets spawns (the first one being as soon as you start the defense). Also note the use of the #3 ability for the fifth shot. This is because at that point, the groups spawn in quick succession, and #2 attack seems to have a slightly longer reload time than the GCD, so you could attempt to fire that, triggering the GCD, but not actually launch any arrows, which would set you behind. It's possible to make the shots, but requires very precise timing. It's better to just use #3 there instead.

Description

The enemy is coming... and in great numbers. We will get no further reinforcements. Let us hope we can stop the Neferset advance. If Nahom falls, Ramkahen will follow. Go outside and speak to one of my sergeants when you're ready. I will help you command the forces we have to the best of my ability.
