Forges can also be found around the outside edge of the room.

I couldn't find the sword too and suddenly I found it in my bag! Runforged it and that's it.
4.1 - Just started a dk goblin. when i got this quest the racks were readily visible w/o problem the forges were bugged and i couldnt see them. just a heads up there are forges located between most weapon racks. so if u cant see the forge just do some trial and error u will get one eventually. took me solid 20 min to figure out :)

Description
The single most important piece of equipment to a death knight is the runeblade. It is through the runeblade that a death knight commands the powers of frost, blood and the unholy. The runeblade also acts as a vessel to store the death knight's runic power. The time has come to create your first runeblade. Search the weapon racks on this floor and locate a battle-worn sword. Once found, take the sword to a nearby runeforge and use it to create a runeblade.
