The Old Ways

The Old Ways is a quest for level 10-51 in Bastion. It is step 1 of 3 in the An Act of Service storyline, the opening step. The quest's turn-in marker is in Bastion at 47.9, 73.5. It rewards 1 reward item, 1 reputation reward, 13,050 experience and money.

Description

You there! Might I ask your help?

I must confess, with the lack of new souls arriving, our supplies have dwindled. We lack the means to clothe arrivals in proper kyrian attire.

Before the forging of the centurions, aspirants trained against the native wildlife. Perhaps there is another way these beasts can prove useful.

If you collect materials from the cloudstriders and larions nearby, we can use them to ensure our new arrivals look the part.

Oh, and some thread from Mirene, if you would!

Larion Sires aren't just on the ground.
You might see them above you / in the sky as well.

Remember to look up and / or use a targeting macro.
Ticking "Track Quest POIs" (click the magnifying glass on the left side of your minimap) will show you the area in which it's optimal to look.

Example:

/tar Larion Sire
/stopmacro [dead][noexists]
/run SetRaidTarget("target", 6)

This quest is horrible and the world quest variant as well! I really hate doing quests like these where the drop rate for the item is low and there aren't enough mobs to go around because there are always lots of people around killing everything!

Where to go

Pins are the quest’s own POI points from the current retail client, projected onto the in-game zone map. The game marks one blob as the quest’s turn-in; the rest are objective areas. Points that fall outside a map’s window are dropped rather than guessed at.

The materials you supplied were more than sufficient for my purposes. For that, you have my gratitude. I think I know how to make the best use of the excess. A dear friend of mine recently achieved the role of Acolyte in service to the Temple of Purity.
