Plans: Runic Plate Helm

This along with the Plans: Runic Plate Shoulders are the hardest to farm from the runic plate set. Took me months of on and off farming and the less than 1% drop is quite accurate. Problem is the mobs are easy to kill per se but they arent a guaranteed spawn since a Sorceress, Siren, Serpent Guard or Myrmidon can spawn in place of the Warriors. Best way to farm these guys is to simply kill everything in the island over and over.

Took me 4 complete clears of the island to get this one. Extremely lucky, i must say. The best way is to kill all the naga indeed, as the warriors can spawn everywhere except in front of the buildings in the main camp.

Both this one and the plans for the shoulders dropped for me in my 3 first naga kills

I've been farming for 3 hours, got Runic Breastplate plans 3 times, but still haven't seen Shoulders or Helm :( Low drop rate indeed.

Just hit 201 warrior kills with no plan drops. I got a skullflame shield and about about 200 clams. No helm drops.

Hit 500 kills and tomorrow is the sundering. Looks like I will not be getting this pattern. I am sad.

If you want to farm this at a lower level like me (level 60 prot war) be warned that the island is filled with elites. Sadly, to farm the helm efficiently, you gotta kill everything, which is quite a challenge on that level. There is also an underground area, where warriors may spawn. Dropping down will aggro two henchmen of dr weavil, who both have 30000hp. They hit pretty hard to, but don't seem to have a weapon, thus limiting their damage. Luckily it is possible to pull only one, by for example shooting it from a save distance, thereby enhancing your chances of winning the fight, heal, then pull the other. If you are also farming for the runic breastplate you will want to use this method to reach Tidelord Rrurgaz.

If you die you will have to run back from the theramore graveyard. And last but not least, kill all hydra's at sight. They have a large aggro radius, and nothing sucks more than to have them attack you while you have low health from a fight.

Good thing bout the elites is that they drop bout 30 to 50 silver, which means that they do pay for your repair costs:-)

I sent in a ticket on the three Strashaz Plate drops on 6/20/2011 and was assured that these plans were dropping as normal and that it typically took 1,000's of kills for them to drop. 1,000's does NOT agree with the Wowhead numbers at all. The lowest Wowhead drop rate is 1.7 per thousand (helm) and the highest 8 per thousand (chest). Something is wrong here.

After reading your post (and the post above yours) I decided to ticket this. On August 17, 2011, a GM got back to me and confirmed that this item is no longer available in game. He initially said it was still in game, then corrected himself and said he was looking "at old loot logs", which is apparently easy to do. He said "unfortunately that item did not make it into Cataclysm". Since I had been farming this for awhile now, I decided to stop and put the information here so that other people would know that it is [b]UNAVAILABLE[/b] in game now. I would assume the other two Runic Plate Plans

After reading your post and spending almost a week non-stop farming these, I, too, opened a ticket, and was told by the GM they are still dropping. I wasn't given any information about specific drop rates or anything. But, aside from dailies on my main, I've done nothing but go farm these until I fill my bags each day, then I usually go sell, dump my bags, and keep farming. I'll go out with 80-90 inventory slots free. I'd say each day I manage to make somewhere between 20 and 30 loops of the island. I haven't had one recipe drop yet. Something seems off, despite what GMs are saying.

I opened a ticket yesterday asking if the 3 runic plate recipes are still obtainable and received a response saying they are, and are "very rare, but not extremely rare".

I'll update this post if I find any plans.

I'm doing 1 BG between each clear. spawn rate sucks. and it seems i need to kill 1000 for each plan.
