I got it from a guy annoucing it on trade and was able to share with my guildies.
This quest is confirmed sharable. If you farm the egg you can advertise in chat and then share it with members in a group. They will each get their own egg to continue the questline.
Edit: As of this afternoon it appears Blizzard has removed the ability to share this quest.
