A Haunted History

A Haunted History is a Horde-only quest for level 25-30 in Shadowmoon Valley. It is step 70 of 147 in the Shadowmoon Valley storyline. The quest's turn-in marker is in Shadowmoon Valley at 29.9, 27.7. It rewards 4,100 experience and money.

Description

Have you felt the cold chill? Perhaps what you thought was a hand on your shoulder? That was not your mind playing tricks on you, <race>. The land is haunted. Ghosts litter the landscape, stuck here for all eternity.

Would you like to see them? Are you sure about that? These types of things tend to change a person - and not for the better.

Very well, I will need you to collect for me the ever-burning ash that is found near any of the fel lava pools of western Shadowmoon. Anywhere near green lava...

This is the start of the Teron Gorefiend quest chain, for the Horde.

This chain begins differently depending on whether you're Alliance (A) or Horde (H):

Alliance - starts in Wildhammer Stronghold from Zorus the Judicator:
1. (A) [69] A Ghost in the Machine
2. (A) [69] Harbingers of Shadowmoon
3. (A) [70] Teron Gorefiend - Lore and Legend

Horde - starts in Shadowmoon Village from Chief Apothecary Hildagard:
1. (H) [69] A Haunted History
2. (H) [69] Spectrecles
3. (H) [70] Teron Gorefiend - Lore and Legend

At this point the chain splits into three parts which can be done in any order (and by both factions):
4a. [70] Divination: Gorefiend's Cloak
4b. [70] Divination: Gorefiend's Truncheon [2 players]
4c. [70] Divination: Gorefiend's Armor [5 players]

After collected Gorefiend's stuff and returned it to the spirit, you will get:
5. (A) [70] Teron Gorefiend, I am...
5. (H) [70] Teron Gorefiend, I am...

For this final quest, Gorefiend becomes your "pet" and you control him using a pet bar. Having used him to kill Karsius, you return to Zorus or Hildagard to claim your reward. Choose from:
Evoker's Helmet of Second Sight (cloth DPS headpiece)
Stealther's Helmet of Second Sight (leather melee headpiece)
Druidic Helmet of Second Sight (leather magical headpiece)
Stalker's Helmet of Second Sight (mail +AP headpiece)
Shamanistic Helmet of Second Sight (mail +dmg headpiece)
Overlord's Helmet of Second Sight (plate DPS headpiece)

Edit: converted to new tag format to fix URL overload problem.

  • Teron Gorefiend - Lore and LegendShadowmoon Valley · Level 25-30

Stories abound about the life of Teron Gorefiend, but most are just that - stories. We do not know what happened to Gorefiend after he returned to Draenor. The only thing we are certain of is that he has already died once.

  • SpectreclesShadowmoon Valley · Level 25-30

I call them "Spectrecles." Clever, no? When you equip these goggles, you will be able to see the spirits of Shadowmoon Valley. Before I let you have them, though, you must promise me that you will help us clear out the ghosts at the village.
