TheWoWDBYou have to be in the area when the boss spawns to get the world quest (respawn timer near 5 minutes).
You can't join other groups because you will lose the quest. Because of this creating your own groups is pointless.
Have fun killing it with other fellas on your current server.

I had issues getting completion for the World Quest, with two kills that didn't register.
What worked for me was flying off some distance from the world boss, then going back by foot, before it spawned. Once it spawned, the world quest appeared in the quest tracker. Then I joined via groupfinder, and finally got the completion.
