Description

Grimesilt wasn't as high up on the chain as I thought. We'll have to take out his superior and find out what he knows.

Dig-Boss Dinwhisker's his name, and he runs the Dark Iron digging operations within the Cauldron, just northwest of here. His excavators and footmen patrol the eastern side of the Cauldron, digging downward, day and night.

He's not known to show his face out in the field very often, but if you slay enough of his men, he'll be forced to come out and deal with you.

He spawns after about 11-12 kills of the dwarfs in the cauldron area. He emotes when he spawns, and he comes riding in on a black Ram. The amber needed for the quest is lootable from the ground, not from his corpse. I killed him on my 80 Belf priest, and then a lower level Alliance warlock came by and was able to loot the item without having killed Dinwhisker himself.

Where this quest fits

Before this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • A New Master... But Who?Searing Gorge · Level 15-30

You've arrived just in time. Here's the skinny: the Dark Iron dwarves in the gorge have been acting strangely, and the Thorium Brotherhood intends to find out why. Overseer Oilfist doesn't like surprises. We suspect that they're following orders from some new leader.

After this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • Thorium Point: The Seat of the BrotherhoodSearing Gorge · Level 15-30

Did... did you see that? This is the missing piece we've been looking for! We have to take this information back to someone at Thorium Point. The Dark Irons have been known to consort with the firelord in the past, but never before have they brought their kind this far out into Searing Gorge.
