Not that it's a difficult quest in the first place but you can speed it up ever so slightly.
Simply right-click on a "seedling" to remove the trapped human from the dirt. Once he's out, right click on your shovel to kill him.
Credit for 2 "saved" humans, for the low price of one!
This quest isn't available until you do No One Here Gets Out Alive, which itself is a chain starting from the beginning of the zone starting from Welcome to the Machine. (About ~6 quests)

Description
You have come upon a horrific scene. Someone or something has buried all of the humans up to their necks in a manner consistent with planting. The ghouls, which are seemingly tending the field of human seedlings, periodically jump to the nearest human and devour its head! You can end this right here and now. Take this shovel and "save" the humans. Do the right thing.
