Multiple references here, which damn near made me laugh out loud. First, the play on words between brue and brew (i.e. fermenting mead from honey.) Second, brue is similar to grue (per Casn's comment) which was a monster that would eat you if you moved around in the dark without a lantern in Infocom's first Zork game. Also in Zork I, going into the basement of the small white house was how you kicked off your adventure.

Well, if you dont go in the basement, you wouldnt complete the quest.
Entrance to the basement located at 70.7 69.2 spot, it's the house where you found crystallized honey.
After you getting in the basement, examine Mead Barrel next to a wall.
Then you have to defeat [npc=131861] honey elemental.Don't Go in the Basement - www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLieoZxSdIc
I feel like this series of quests is a reference to the Goosebumps book "Stay Out of the Basement". In that book a botanist experiments on plants in his basement and creates a half plant half human monster, which his children discover.

What to do
Description
We checked everywhere... well, <gulps> everywhere except the basement. B-b-but, dad told me never to go down there. He said it's dark, scary, and dangerous to go alone... I could be eaten by a brue! I don't even know what that is, but I don't wanna be eaten! {name}, do you think you could go down first?

The map we found earlier had some red markings, near the flower field. Do you think you could go up there and look for dad? I'm going to stay here and check out the rest of this stuff. I'd go with you... but, I'm sort of allergic to bees. Oh, and take his boot. Just in case!
