Anyone cheecking here today, 03/15/22, I and multiple people have confirmed that this quest is not working; Item simply does nothing, no quest progress is made. Have tried relogging, nothing. Still waiting on an update

The Codex isn't working for me today either. It registers the action and triggers the cooldown animation (clock sweep on icon), but that is it.

Kinda suxxorz since I need this quest to finish the Assault.

Edit:
I have:
- abandoned and re-acquired quest
- tried while mounted
- tried dismounted
- tried up close
- tried far away
- killed nearby combatants
-tried by clicking on icon in quest sidebar on screen
-tried by clicking on scroll-quest-item in inventory
-tried logging out and back in
-disabled all addons
-tried to attack the Exhausted Protectors
-made sure all other local quests were complete

It is possible that a pending quest from Zereth Mortis is interfering. I have Danger Near and Far pending, yeah I've been slacking this week. Playing alts.
Other quests such as Storm The Maw, Return Lost Souls, Shaping Fate, are also pending, but they have not appeared to cause past problems.

edit again: seems like many other people in zone having the same issue. will report, I guess.

Description

Though the prose may seem meaningless, it holds immense power. Hearing these words will reinvigorate our exhausted Protectors with hope.
