If you are a skinner you can get the pelts from the Hyenas. If you aren't a skinner then you can only get them from the Amathet Hunters. So don't waste your time killing Hyenas if you can't skin if you want to complete this quest. I was killing Hyenas for about 15 minutes and didn't get a pelt.
Edit: Hotfix now allows Hyenas to drop pelts w/o being a Skinner
The hyenas themselves don't drop the pelts (At least I've killed a couple dozens and haven't gotten a single pelt from them). Instead, the [npc=151943]s do drop them, the drop rate is not 100% tho so be ready for that.

Description
The Wastewanders used the pelts of the local hyenas to construct our armor. Unfortunately since the Amathet arrived, their hunters have overrun our normal hunting grounds. We need those pelts, and will pay handsomely for them. Either take them from the hunters or skin the hyenas yourself, if you have the skill.
