I was about to come here to post the exact same thing. I picked it up on my Warrior and thought "Huh, I wonder if this will take me to Gorgrond or something." Nope, supposed to interact with the Alliance quest person. So I slaughtered the settlement and then went back to treasure hunting.

Description
The umbraspore giant you killed seemed immune to the volatile spores in the area. Perhaps the odd growths you found all over its body contribute to its immunity. You grab a big, disgusting fungal lump in order to give it to the rangari for study.
