-Don't summon him mounted
-Don't be on the ground when you summon him.

Right click the totem "swimming/hovering" above it, when the purple lazers appear, run into them and he will spawn.

If the totem isn't there or you failed the first time, abandon the quest, relog and accept the quest again.

After I died a ton of times, I realized this quest suffers from don't stand in the fire syndrome. Avoid standing in the black smokey circle he casts... not that we shouldn't have learned that lesson already. =)

Okay, Got out of ranged 3 times when I tried him as a goblin rogue 82.
Now here is the important part:
Swim about 2 feet below him and start DPSing, like many of the large mobs in this area you can't dps at body level but at their feet. This guy has a HUGE case of that.
Grats on finally finishing this quest guys!

I now imbue you with the energies of the corrupting faceless. Swim down to my luring totem in the trench to the northeast. Release the energies through it. Bring back the brain of their leader. Call forth to Ick'thys the Unfathomable... it will come!
