If you were a noob like me and you flew off before he upgraded it, you wont be able to complete it unless you abandon the quest and reacquire.

You need to wait there while he goes through the motions and it will appear on top of the anvil when he's done.

For Legion remix:

After taking the quest, Schmied (the quest giver) walks to the forge and returns to the anvil and starts hitting it with his hammer (20 sec RP) - then the 'Plated Barding' spawns on the anvil and you can take it.

    Lately I've been working with the ore of this land, leystone it's called. I've found its qualities to hold remarkable strength and durability. We'll need a lot of it for this. There is felslate, but that's a probably too tainted for what you're looking to do with this barding.

When it thrived, before the plague, it produced holy water capable of cleansing even the darkest of magics. There still may be caches of it lying untouched there that we can use.
