ok since this quest doesn't seem very clear, you have to do this OUTSIDE of the instance

go to the area and go up in the arena building. if you see a named mob called Araxxas you're in the right area.

as a pally I found it easier to jump into the arena, go to the grounds keeper and get ported out then run up the to the top of the arena. it might not be advisable since you do get flagged for PVP (and like it's beta so there's not many people around)

as for the scenario itself, you're fighting endless waves of demons, you'll get new abilities as you sacrifice more mages and upon reaching various stages. the easiest method I had was just beeline to each portal and gather all the demons together, use your first ability to kill them all then click on the portal.

you can also double back to previous portals if you're having problems

Enter the Black Rook Hold area through the main gate, but don't go past the end of the red carpet. Go through the door to the right, it should take you to the rampart above the pvp arena. Keep going past the Risen Soldiers and you will reach an area called Darkpens. A mob called Araxxas is also there. That's where Xe'Ra will contact you.

Description

Years later, as the War of the Ancients raged on and the Burning Legion's grip upon this world took hold, Illidan would meet a military leader known as Kur'talos Ravencrest. He too would see the potential within Illidan, eventually promoting him to captain of the Moon Guard: a powerful group of night elf sorcerers. We must experience this memory in Black Rook Hold, located on the western shores of Val'sharah.
