TheWoWDBAt level 85, you need to hold up on dps a little. Just auto attack or wand until your two little friends get chained up. At which point, keep whichever faction you want to befriend alive.
Zerging down the Lich only results in both little guys to stay frozen, and not giving you the ability to open up the dailies with either. But if you do happen to kill him too fast, then restart the game like someone else said.
