TheWoWDBYou cannot get the followup quest if you have completed the equivalent quest before Cataclysm. (I don't know the link to the former quest, sorry) I just spoke to a GM about the issue. He told me that I had already completed the quest before cataclysm hit. He explaned to me that they took the old quest and made it to the last part of this questline. So theoretically you completed the last part of the quest chain before the other quests. Sounds funny and to me is very odd storywise but technically it makes sense to me. I hope this information is useful to others.

So I just completed this quest and the barrel I had to search didn't give me another quest to continue searching. My friend said he had this exact same problem too...
Confirmed. The half-buried barrel did not offer the follow-up quest. Have a ticket in about it.

Description
This grouping of murloc hovels, after a thorough inspection, reveals nothing. ...but you're certain that the next clue you find will be fruitful. One of the hovels to the north must have the Menethil statuette!
