Make sure you've completed "The Ashenvale Hunt" before trying to get his claw(As well as the cat and bear equivilents)
Two important changes to this quest in Cataclysm
- Sharptalon is now level 22. Easy to kill.
- The Ashenvale Hunt quest no longer exists and is therefore no longer a prerequisite. Simply kill Sharptalon and you will get the quest item.
