If, like me, you are doing this on a woefully undergeared 120 and are having trouble with Blightgut... just remember that getting smashed reduces your enemy's perceived level. In this case, getting smashed will 'lower' Blightgut to level 115. It doesn't make him massively easier, but may help give you the edge you need to survive.

Travel all way across the isle, kill a mob, travel all the way back to turn it in. Blizzard is absolutely obsessed with time consuming travel for no reason. The NPC could have easily met us at the quest location for a quick turn in.

Anasterian died right at the start of this quest, but it feels like Arthas is supposed to be fighting/speaking to him after you kill Blightgut. I'm not sure if this is a bug or if there's a way to have him survive the initial fight?

Description

Remember the Sunwell. We ride into battle with those words for a reason. We lost so much that day... I lost so much that day. Shine the lantern on the southern side of the island, where the Dead Scar meets the sea. There you will see how the fall of the Sunwell began. And with it, the last act of the High Elves.

Pins are the quest’s own POI points from the current retail client, projected onto the in-game zone map. The game marks one blob as the quest’s turn-in; the rest are objective areas. Points that fall outside a map’s window are dropped rather than guessed at.

Where this quest fits

Before this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • Defense of Quel'DanasLevel 50-90

With our best defenders defeated and the line broken, Arthas made quick work of Silvermoon's remaining forces and tore through the city. This is where we part ways. I must return to Silvermoon before Halduron starts sending rangers to search for me.

After this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • A People ShatteredLevel 50-90

While the monument here was intended to honor the fallen members of the Shattered Sun, it quickly took on a second meaning for the sin'dorei. It was not far from here that we lost one of our greatest heroes: Anasterian Sunstrider, the last king of Quel'Thalas.
