This is the easiest of these quests i have ever done.
Keep using the stun and AOE on the adds until the Doc arrvies.
Let the doc get close...TARGET him, do another knockback when all mobs are back on you.use the chain-pull to pull the doc towards you while he is mid-air...
Use the first petbar key on Mr.Doc...just spam it....hits him really hard...

When mobs get close,...repeat untill doc is dead...
Took me 3 chain pulls to bring the doc down..had like 40% health left...
Dont focus on killing adds, just use the above method to take out the NPC.Easy..
Cheers

Actually I tried your plan 3 times, it was very ineffective at destroying the Doctor, instead I just kept punching the adds (press 1) and pushed them back with the knockback (press 2) when the Doctor came I kept focus on him and just started spamming 1, when the adds come back quickly push them off again with knockback and resume punching the Doctor, and seriously don't bother with clearing the adds over the doctor they all despawn when the doctor dies

What to do
Description
Opening the tome, you notice all manner of disgusting illustrations concerning the construction of what the doctor refers to as "the ultimate weapon"! Clearly the prototype, Nergeld, is the massive flesh giant standing still at the end of the nearby Hall of Horrors. If an army of those things were to be constructed, then it would mean doom. The only way to ensure that doesn't happen is to slay Dr. Terrible! Perhaps if you were to take control of the construct, the doctor would reveal himself?

Pins are the quest’s own POI points from the current retail client, projected onto the in-game zone map. The game marks one blob as the quest’s turn-in; the rest are objective areas. Points that fall outside a map’s window are dropped rather than guessed at.
