Just completed this daily Calling quest on live servers.
I have run Torgast level Layer 1. for this (seen other comments you can get this done in the Maw River of Souls area, but I think that was just the case in the Beta).
All lootable mobs in Torgast droped 1-3 anima embers. Also I received a few when I released the spirits. Did not got any embers from breaking Phylacterys.
I needed 5 full floor clears to get the 150 anima embers.
Yes, an easy+quick level 1 run of Torgast will complete this quest. You often don't even need to clear all of layer 5.
Yes, you can bail out instantly once you loot the 150 - you don't need to complete the run.
Yes, you can complete this in Twisting Corridors.

Description
So many souls that should have been nurtured here have been lost to the Maw, it pains me to think of it. Maw Walker, we ask you now to do that which we cannot. Traverse the Jailer's domain, walk his barren fields, climb his accursed tower. Bring us that which we lack.
