You have to have be using the [item=160735] to both pick up and complete the quest, but other than that it is not needed for this quest. However its a good idea to keep it active to allow you to do Gang Bustin' at the same time.
Even though this is marked as a Horde quest, Alliance can complete it and and Gang Bustin' as well. They just need to be wearing [item=160735].

Description
Shouldn't you be in the mines? Look, I won't tell Morrison if you won't. I wouldn't want to be stuck in those mines, either. We could use a hand out here, though. The crew is getting crabby. We've been eating nothing but slop and the occasional rat for weeks. I hear one of the deckhands makes a marvelous crab stew. Can I count on you to secure the meat?
