I tried the mentioned strats for An Awfully Big Adventure but got nowhere with them til I tried a combination of 2 of the strats.
I used
Iron Starlette (1,2,1)
Emerald Proto-Whelp (2,2,2)My Elekk Plushie just chilled in the back.
For Pyth I one shot it using Wind-Up, Supercharge, then Wind-Up again. Then just cast Toxic Smoke again because Spring is faster and my starlette died without touching Spring. I then bring out the Proto-Whelp. I kept up Emerald Presence and would use Emerald Dream with 50% health or lower and then just cast Emerald Bite since it hits Spring pretty hard. Proto-Whelp barely lost any health due to this strat and was able to stay alive and just Emerald Bite Clatter until the beetle died. Yes he will cast Apocalypse but even using Emerald Dream you will be able to kill him in time.

Lil' XT + Nether Faerie Dragon + Elekk Plushie works fine. I used Heartbroken > Tympanic Tantrum and that took out Pyth, leaving the other two at around half health. Then Nether Faerie Dragon came in with Moonfire followed by Arcane Blast while the Elekk Plushie just looked utterly adorable sitting in the background.
