If you're as confused as I was about how to actually feed him after gathering the meat, there's a small thing on the ground next to him you have to click. It can be a bit hard to see.
Aqir Stingers can be found near egg clumps in Orsis. They only have 52.6k HP and are in groups of 3-4 that are close to other packs. You can probably pull 12 in one go and be done with it.

Description
In the wild it is actually fairly common for insects to eat others of their species. I wonder if this rings true for the aqir as well. Could you bring back some meat from the aqir or mantid? We'll see if that's more palatable for our friend here.
