I'd say be careful with this quest. A random horde guard appeared out of nowhere and one shot me before running off out of range. I don't know if he had a ridiculous range or something but I have no idea where he came from and definitely didn't aggro him before entering the lake

I picked up all available quests at Stardust Spire and went ahead with They Took Our Gnomes, The Goblin Braintrust and Ze Gnomecorder in the dummy-horde forest location north of Silverwind Refugee. I thought this Silverwind Refugee was yet another dummy horde camp, and began to slaughter my way through it for reaching Mystral Lake. Being a lvl 99, it would be a piece of cake. Until it became obvious that the third guard in my pull was not going to let himself be killed by me, and actually killed both my voidtank and myself.

So this is a warning to every [faction=469]-questers: Silverwind Refugee is actually taken over by the filthy Horde. Do not go near this occupied post unless you have a raid group or wanna test your luck!

What to do

StorylineAshenvale, Alliance, step 20 of 50
Rewards10g 50s, 4,100 XP

Description

We could easily have held Silverwind Refuge from the Horde had they not taken control of our water elemental defenders on Mystral Lake. One of their shaman summoned in Tideress, an old and angry water spirit of the forest who befouled our elementals and turned them against us. With the lake and the Horde pressing in on us, we had no choice but to retreat to the spire here. Go east. Take the lake back so that we will have a chance to retake the refuge some day.

Where this quest fits

Before this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • Playing PossumAshenvale · Level 7-30

The last piece of the rod is held by druids of the claw. I asked their leader, Oso Bramblescar, to give it to me, but he and his guardians nearly killed me! Clearly they too were affected by the Horde's corruption of the Forest Heart.

After this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • The Goblin BraintrustAshenvale · Level 7-30

If we could just stop the damned bombing from the goblins' creations we'd be able to launch a counter-offensive to take back Silverwind Refuge! It's been my experience that goblins are either lazy and unproductive, or too productive and end up killing themselves with their own explosives.
