Be prepared that the [item=211872] has a different internal cooldown (maybe 8 seconds instead of the 6 shown?) compared to what you see on the quest item. When I spammed it during Beta, it only worked every second time.
Incase it's not obvious, use your quest torch to burn the little dead looking pods all over the ground. Don't wait for the miserable 2-3 mobs that spawn each time with [npc=215501] or you'll be there all day

Description
Fungal growths are still spreading unchecked from the nearby Mycomancers' cavern. The latest surge has sent all my recruits fleeing in fear. I urgently need your skills in eliminating one troublesome fungal growth. Take my Patrol Torch and eradicate Gloomsprout and the surrounding growths that sprouts from it. The torch should handle the smaller stuff, but Gloomsprout will require a more direct approach
