TheWoWDBIt appears that only Mawsworn Eyerippers drop the metal scraps needed - at least, they're the only ones that drop them in the Vault of Secrets.

To get to the southern part of Korthia, the Vault of Secrets where you collect the items for the quest, take a [npc=180548] at /way #1961 60.8 28.4 Flayedwing Transporter
The Flayedwing Transporter is behind Baroness Draka with the other The Undying Army NPCs in Keeper's Respite.
Once you're done with the quest objective, take the Flayedwing Transporter out of the Vault of Secrets at /way #1961 49.2 63.8 Flayedwing Transporter to get back to Keeper's Respite.
To second this, make sure you just fly over, there aren't enough of the mobs that drop the items on the northern side.

Description
Our army always need more weapons, armor, and troops. Always. We're getting reinforcements, but I can't keep everyone properly armed at this rate. Especially without a full forge and assistants. We'll have to make do with the next best thing. I need you to go get me any kind of scrap metal from the Mawsworn you can find. I'll figure out how to turn it into usable weapons.
