This quest might be the worst one in WoW. Between EVERYTHING at the bottom of the "River" looking like what you need, the visual effects making it nearly impossible to get a read on what you're looking at, and the hyper annoying crying sound effect that will not go away and tiggers for any reason, it legit feels like it's either some form of punishment put in by the Devs for players complaining about something, or it's a cry for help from whoever made it and someone needs to check in on them.

-150/10, would never recommend. Probably won't bring any alts thru Korthia because of this single quest.

I love the fact that after you kill the Shades for the quest alongside this one (which you will because they're swarming all over the river), you lose the ability to pacify them, so as you try to loot the tears you'll be aggroing them constantly, with a damage buff taken on top of it. 10/10 quest design.

What to do

StorylineFocusing the Eye, step 14 of 16
Rewards25g 74s, 8,150 XP

Description

To anchor the instrument to the Maw and make it capable of the effect you seek, it must be imbued with the raw, unfiltered agony endured by the souls trapped in this cursed prison. Sorrow is abundant here, and therefore simple to obtain. You need only travel to Gorgoa. The damned shed copious tears that fall as crystalized grief as they are swept along the River of Souls. Be careful that their sadness does not overwhelm you.

Where to go

Pins are the quest’s own POI points from the current retail client, projected onto the in-game zone map. The game marks one blob as the quest’s turn-in; the rest are objective areas. Points that fall outside a map’s window are dropped rather than guessed at.

Where this quest fits

Before this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • Anger ManagementKorthia · Level 60

I am no musician, though I've spent many an hour enjoying the entertainment in Tazavesh. Giving this horn a voice will require the harvest of strong emotions. Anger seethes unrestrained within the damned unfortunates consigned to the River of Souls.

After this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • Focusing the EyeKorthia · Level 60

The combination of grief and rage you have harvested is sufficient for your needs. Most likely. If you insist on seeing this ill-advised endeavor through, use the horn at the Terminus Platform, where the River of Souls flows upward to Torghast. The energies there are most potent indeed.
