Info on the full "The Crystal Reborn" quest chain, one of the six quest chain criteria for the Master Relic Hunter (Alliance)/ Master Relic Hunter (Horde) achievement needed to get the [follower=465] follower with [garrisonability=256] and unique [garrisonability=248] traits. This chain takes place primarily in northeast Spires of Arak, the southernmost Draenor zone.

Getting Starter Quests: The first quest is given by Harrison Jones, who turns up just inside your garrison's Town Hall on random days. He's in some garrisons every day, all giving the same chain's starter quest for that day; use Group Finder's Premade Groups/Custom category to search for "Harrison" to see if anyone is inviting people to their garrison to get the quest.

Bug Notes:

  • If you collected an item that should complete a quest, but the quest isn't shown as completed, log off and back on (just reloading won't work), click the quest in your quest log, and see if you can click "complete quest".

  • [
  • Leave at least one spot free in your quest log (i.e. 24 of 25), or a quest may become uncompletable going from one quest to the next.

  • You can not do these quests in a raid group; doing some steps in a raid group can make a quest uncompletable.

  • If a quest becomes uncompletable, you can return to your garrison, delete the quest, and re-accept the quest on that step of the quest chain from the book of [object=239791] on the ground next to Harrison Jones. All but the initial quest are also shareable from party members, if you are on the same step of the quest chain.

1. Treasure Contract: The Artificer: [67.4, 21.8] in Spires of Arak. Fly to Akeeta's Hovel flightpoint on the border of Shadowmoon Valley and Spires of Arak, and follow the path southeast. After a short distance, near some rocks before a fork in the road, a message should be displayed saying you've completed the one of the two quest criteria, "Find the missing Artificer", and a yellow dot will appear on the minimap showing [npc=90422]'s corpse and [item=122154] on the ground at [67.4, 21.8]. Click the journal, then click the "Click to complete quest" pop-up.

Bag Space Tip: After you get credit for completing this quest, you can safely delete [item=122154] from your bags. It's just for interesting reading. Each Harrison Jones quest chain leaves a similar soulbound book in your inventory (click for list).

2. Dream of Argus: The First Fragment: [70.4, 22.0] in Spires of Arak. Continue along the path, taking a left at the fork in the road into a cave (entrance at [69.0, 22.4]). Kill [npc=90603], loot [item=122160], and click the "Click to complete quest" pop-up.

3. Dream of Argus: The Second Fragment: [73.0, 32.2]. Head back out of the cave to the fork in the road, and take the other path, continuing south/southeast along the path, through an archway, past some mobs and big pink crystals, to the first hut on the right at [73.0, 32.2]. There can be quite a few mobs from the archway until you reach the hut. Kill [npc=90602], loot [item=122161], and click the "Click to complete quest" pop-up.

4. Dream of Argus: The Final Fragment: [75.0, 26.1]. Head northeast out of the hut across a clearing to a path leading up a hill (it starts at [74.4, 30.2]). Turn right at the first branch a short ways up the hill ([73.9, 28.9] - if you pass a cave you went too far), and when you pass through a stone archway and see a void portal on your right, take a hard right up that hill (off the path) to a peak/cliff at [75.0, 26.1]. There can be quite a few mobs until you reach the archway. If there are just some talbuks at the peak, wait a moment until [npc=90458] (195k health) and [npc=90404] (489k health) respawn. Kill them, loot [item=122162] from Koros, and click the "Click to complete quest" pop-up.

5. Dream of Argus: The Crystal Reborn: [32.3, 46.6] in a cave in Shadowmoon Valley. Make your down the hill (northwest, north, then northeast) to around [75, 19.6] in Spires of Arak, across the zone border into Shadowmoon Valley. Continue to a cave entrance at [32.7, 45.3] in Shadowmoon Valley, and go in the cave; if the "Find the reconstruction device" quest criterion isn't not complete, walk back out and back in. Once inside, click the altar at [32.3, 46.6] to place the crystal shards, then click the Inner Ring, Middle Ring, and Outer Ring until the three types of purple crystals on the rings line up with the matching purple crystals on the altar. When they're lined up just right, you can click the crystal in the center of the altar to loot a [item=122189]. NOTE: Each of the three purple crystals is a differently-shaped rune, and they must be lined up together - if you're zoomed out, this may not be as obvious, so zoom in until you see the shapes clearly. If you line up all three of the round-shaped crystals on the rings with the round-shaped symbol on the outermost stone, then the other two shapes of crystals will also be lined up.

Double-check that the quest is ready for turn-in, and hearth back to your garrison to turn it in to [npc=81492] (Alliance) or Rokhan (Horde).

Problems:

  • If you can't click the center crystal to start turning the rings, check to make sure the first part of the quest, "Find the reconstruction device", is marked as completed; if not, walk out and back in to the cave until it's completed.

  • If you can't click the center crystal even after the rings are properly aligned, or if it's just too crowded to align things with all the people clicking, you might have success realm-hopping (joining parties, not raids, with friends on other realms) to get different instances of the altar. Waiting longer is futile if it's bugged.

  • If you aren't getting credit for clicking the center crystal, log off and back on.

1. Treasure Contract: The Artificer
• Fly to Akeeta's Hovel (65.6, 17.5) at the border between Shadowmoon Valley and Spires of Arak (if you don't have this, you will need to fly to Crow's Crook in Spires of Arak and travel northeast).
• Once at Akeeta's Hovel, take the path to the left, leading southeast to coordinates 67.4, 21.8.
• Pick up the [object=240016].

2. Dream of Argus: The First Fragment
• Travel into the cave on your left, the entrance is located at coordinates 69.5, 22.3
• Kill [npc=90408].
• Loot the [item=122160].

3. Dream of Argus: The Second Fragment
• Exit the cave and take the path on the left (southeast).
• Enter the hut at coordinates 73, 32.
• Kill [npc=90412] (avoid the black swirls on the ground).
• Loot the [item=122161].

4. Dream of Argus: The Final Fragment
• Exit the hut and take the path up the hill (74.2, 30.1).
• Take the right at the fork in the road, and continue up hill.
• Once at the top of the hill, past the "Stonehenge" monument (72.3, 25.6), take a right.
• Continue to coordinates 75.4, 25.3.
• Kill [npc=90404].
• Loot the [item=122162].

5. Dream of Argus: The Crystal Reborn
• Travel down the hill to [Shadowmoon Valley] coordinates 32.2, 45.9, and jump down (CAREFUL ON USE OF SLOW FALL / LEVITATE... otherwise you may end up going off the edge and have to fly back to Akeeta's Hovel and ride to the cave again)
• Enter the cave, Shadowmoon Mine
• Click the [object=240053]
• Three wheels, with three different symbols will appear, along with 3 stones on the outside edge of the circle.
• Line up the three symbols on the wheels, by clicking them, with the symbols on the stones.
• Lightning will appear out of the outside edge stones and hit the center stone (signaling that you have done the wheels correctly). I've found that the best strategy for the wheels is to pick one of the symbols and line up the wheel's symbols to the corresponding stone symbol.
• Loot the [item=122189] and turn in the quest at your garrison (be careful not to click the wheels again when looting the [item=122189], otherwise you'll have to do the wheels again).

Description

I have heard of a draenei artificer by the name of Maatun that was seeking to restore an old draenei crystal, possibly of naaru origin. He called the crystal the Dream of Argus. The draenei went missing after seeking out help from the Shadowmoon orcs back before they allied themselves with the Iron Horde. One of your scouts recently spotted a draenei matching the description of Maatun near the entrance of the Pillars of Fate. Go there and see what you can dig up.
