The Sting

The Sting is an Alliance-only quest for level 10-40 in Shadowmoon Valley. It is step 13 of 18 in The Exarch Council storyline. The quest's turn-in marker is in Shadowmoon Valley at 56.7, 23.0. It rewards 1 reputation reward, 5,450 experience and money.

Description

The exarchs seem to trust you, <class>. Are you venturing into the Umbrafen?

The Sporebats in this area are usually docile, but something's got them all riled up. When they attack, their stingers wrap around exposed limbs. I've seen them tear through reinforced leather like it was paper. How do they work, I wonder?

Could you bring me a pristine sporebat stinger? I'd love to study it.

Sporebats in the water... kill them for the Pristine Stinger drop. Get the quest "Fun with Fungus" . The Shimmershrooms look like glowcaps. They give you a buff that make the Volatile Spores friendly. The Volatile Spores disorient you so avoid them when going to a glow cap. The glowcaps and the Volatile Spores can be operated while mounted ... get out your disc or water strider mount and do it quickly ;-)
The Umbraspore Giants (elite) drops a quest ... "Fungal Bundle". Turn in all three quest together.

Where this quest fits

Before this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • Speaker for the DeadShadowmoon Valley · Level 10-40

This was a betrayal from within. There's no other explanation for it. None of the Exarchs trust each other now - especially me. But Othaar and Akama can damn their laws. We've got to rout out the traitor and the only way to do it is to speak to the corpse!

After this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • Warning the ExarchsShadowmoon Valley · Level 10-40

You set the book ablaze, but not before noting its contents. The demonic tome was dedicated to enchanting weapons with fel energy. It looked as though the goal was to ensnare the victim's soul. The Exarchs must be warned that traitors are among them!
