Description

You set the book ablaze, but not before noting its contents. The demonic tome was dedicated to enchanting weapons with fel energy. It looked as though the goal was to ensnare the victim's soul.

The Exarchs must be warned that traitors are among them! The Council should be meeting now just up the hill to the east.

When you approach the turn in point, you'll discover that someone has been killed!

Exarch Akama says: This is how he was found. Murdered!
Exarch Othaar says: Exarch Naielle, weren't you overheard arguing with Hataaru earlier?
Exarch Naielle says: We ALWAYS argue. That doesn't mean I killed him!
Exarch Maladaar says: The weapon is tainted with fel energy.
Exarch Othaar says: You seem to know an awful lot about the tools of our enemy.
Exarch Maladaar says: It is my duty to know. Allow me to speak with the body.
Exarch Akama says: I forbid it! He has suffered enough!
Exarch Othaar says: I agree. Stand down, Exarch. Enough damage has been done.

The next quest is Speaker for the Dead.

Before this quest

  • The StingShadowmoon Valley · Level 10-40

The exarchs seem to trust you, <class>. Are you venturing into the Umbrafen? The Sporebats in this area are usually docile, but something's got them all riled up. When they attack, their stingers wrap around exposed limbs. I've seen them tear through reinforced leather like it was paper.

After this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • The Traitor's True NameShadowmoon Valley · Level 10-40

We must give the traitor no place to hide. I have a focusing lens that will illuminate cloaked fel energy. If it were placed on a high point, it could act like a beacon, lighting up anyone in town who reeks of the fel taint.
