Veil Lithic: Preemptive Strike

Veil Lithic: Preemptive Strike is a quest for level 15-30 in Terokkar Forest. It is step 54 of 78 in the Terokkar Forest storyline. The quest's turn-in marker is in Terokkar Forest at 37.4, 50.8. It rewards 4 reward items, 1 reputation reward, 4,100 experience and money.

Description

In the wretched colony to the southwest known as Veil Lithic, Terokk's minions are attempting to befoul their avian brethren before they hatch. The dark sorcerers of Lithic encase eggs in a shadowy curse. When the hatchlings emerge, they mindlessly serve Terrok.

Travel to Veil Lithic and prematurely break the eggs before the curse has time to seep in. Even if you are too late, you can put down the tainted ones.

Remember, the Light shines brightest in the darkness.

There are "Cursed Egg"s found around the camp (23, 74), they are in bird nest looking things outside of the huts.

They have a chance (seems to be a pretty small chance) to let out a Malevolent Hatchling that you can kill.

Here's the problem:

The eggs spawn as either redeemed or malevolent. Once spawned, they do not change.

So if you come into the area and all the currently spawned eggs are redeemed, once you open three of them, you will no longer be able to interact with any more eggs. You will have to wait until those three eggs re-spawn. And the re-spawn timer is excruciatingly slow.

Once they do re-spawn, they have a 50/50 chance of re-spawning as either redeemed or malevolent. So if you've got your 3 redeemed hatchlings, and the three eggs you've already opened re-spawn as redeemed, you still can't interact with any of the eggs.

There is no advantage to dropping the quest and re-starting it, as that won't change any of the redeemed eggs into malevolent eggs or malevolent eggs into redeemed eggs. It's just a random chance as to which way they will re-spawn.

So unless you're supremely lucky and manage to get there when there are three of each kind of eggs, you'll end up spending a lot of time waiting for eggs to re-spawn. And if they all re-spawn the kind you already have, then you basically end up sitting there waiting for somebody else to come start the quest and open more eggs. Which you will then have to hope re-spawn the way you need them to.

So, essentially, you have two options:

1) Keep going off and doing other things and then come back to the area once in a while to see if any of the eggs sparkle for you again (which could literally take hours), or

2) Skip this quest.
