CLUE 15: THE RACE
Here's how to complete Day 14 (Clue 15), "The Race", as part of the Secrets of Azeroth event.
Speak with Preservationist Kathos to complete A Treacherous Race to obtain [item=208958], the clue for today's secret.
Fly to Tyrhold and complete a series of tasks.
Approach the 8 Tyrhold statues holding orbs with your Torch of Pyrreth to light them up. Your torch will channel to the orb and it will glow bright red when done so.

After all 8 orbs are glowing red, approach Tyr's torch right in the middle of Tyrhold (the giant face). If done correctly, the forge will channel through you for a few seconds and you'll get the buff [spell=423792], which makes you friendly to mobs in Tyrhold.

After this, while Tyrhold mobs are friendly to you, head to the inner rings surrounding the central area. In each of these inner rings, there are side rooms by the edges In each of these side rooms, you can find items by using your Idol of Ohn'ahra. They will all resemble broken vase pieces on the floor.
There are a total of 6 items that can be picked up, forming into a total of 4 items at the end:
Large Titan Capacitor
Titan Focusing Crystal
Titan Block Key Fragment x2, which combine into Titan Block Key
Titan Cube Housing and Titan Energy Core, which combine into Titan Energy Cube.

Once you have all 4 items from the inner rings, deposit them into four Titan Power Relays, each of them located into one of the four buildings with pillars of light inside them. By the sides of the pillars, you will find Titan Consoles to input your items into.

Thaldraszus
Once all 4 items are input into each Titan Power Relay, a new quest should show up - Head to the top of Tyrhold and pick up An Ominous Artifact right by the top of Tyrhold, near the throne.

So heads-up on this achievement progression. I felt it should be posted somewhere. Somehow I lost the buff and everything was red in the rooms. Could not regain the buff but finally used brute force and killed each room, put the idol on, and retrieved the items to combine and went through the rest of the quest line to get the achv and mount. Hope this helps anyone that has run into this.

Summary
*An unnamed artifact (or collection of artifacts) was found by Tyr and other titan keepers around Azeroth long ago.
*Tyr focused on one cache in particular, hiding it in Tyr’s Hold behind a number of mechanical and magical locks.
*In the text few pages we have detailed the information we found about each of the locks Tyr put in place.
*The texts do not say what was found, but the writing sounds frightened. Not a good sign coming from a titan keeper! We cannot let Tithris steal the artifact.

 

Where?
This quest takes place entirely in Tyrhold, Thaldraszus. It does not take place in the nearby area called the Sealed Titan Facility.

Do I have to do the Dragonflight storyline about Tyr first?
No. You don’t have to do the [storyline=5455] storyline.

A Dislocated Disc is the first quest in the [storyline=5455] storyline. The quest giver is [npc=187669] at the Seat of the Aspects.

Lock 1

Lock 1 – Torch of Pyrreth
*We believe the first lock requires the torch. We found the line below as a reference. Hopefully these keepers will be easy to discern.

*Eight keepers stand vigil awaiting a flame bearer.

 

Equip the [item=208092] and approach the eight statues of watchers along the perimeter of Tyrhold. Each watcher carries an orb.

As you near a statue, a flame jumps from the [item=208092] to the orb carried by the statue. The orb changes to a burning yellow orb. I found one orb did not change appearance after it ignited, but that doesn’t matter. There is no counter on the screen.

There is no quest completion message. Open the map. You’ll see a yellow question mark in the middle of the Forge-Keep. If you don’t see it, fly up there anyway.

Lock 2

Lock 2 – Titan Key
*This one is very straightforward. It appears from the text only a few titan keys were forged, including the Titan Key of Tyr you were able to reforge.

*Only key holders can gain approval from my golden visage overlooking the furnaces of the hold.

*You will have to locate this visage and see what the “approval” means.

• On the top floor of the Forge-Keep there is a huge golden face of Tyr embedded in the wall – the Visage.
• 
  
• You are a titan keyholder.
• 
  
• Approach the face. A white stream will flow from the eye to you. You’ve received the “Favor of Tyr”. This is a 60 minute buff that makes you friendly with the [npc=192700]s, but some other mobs will remain hostile.

The Favor of Tyr buff is not renewable! But fortunately, the Favor of Tyr buff remains active through death.

You are a titan keyholder. You received [item=208831], a weapon transmog for gathering Rose Gold Dust and Igneous Flux from The Waking Shores doing A Key To Reforg(ing).

Lock 3

Lock 3 – Idol of Ohn’ahra
*The third lock requires the Idol

*Scattered amidst the odd rings, one must search each room to find and return all four whole to the Mother Oathstone’s charges.”

*There was a line that followed with four sets of coordinates:
(8, 13), (25, 25), (10, -12) and (25, -24).

*Kathos thinks the Idol of Ohn’ahra will find the scattered items amongst the circular ring tiers that lead deeper into Tyr’s Hold.

*Seems you should use the thinking cap near the Mother Oathstone at the base of the main stair. Looks important for that second part!

Note: Is this why Tithris told Bobby about Fangli Hoot? To decipher the coordinate system?

Step 1

Equip only the [item=207730] and descend the stairs to the lower levels that circle the Furnace.

There are two sets of stairs. It doesn't matter which you use.
Not far from the stairs to level -1, you'll find the entrance to a round room. If you continue along the curved hall, you'll find an identical room at the far end of the hall, near the other set of stairs.

• You'll only find side rooms on floors -1, -3 and -5. There are two rooms on these floors.

You can fly in the lower levels. While walking, stay close to the walls. The [npc=192700]s are friendly, other mobs are hostile.

There are no side rooms on floors -2 and -4. You cannot enter floor -6.

You don’t need to equip the [item=208092] or the [item=206696].

The reference to coordinates in the Artifact Notes is misleading:

• 
  
• The coordinates don't refer to the location of rooms in the lower corridors. You'll run down the clock on the Favor of Tyr buff if you spend time resetting coordinates and following them.
• 
  
• The coordinates mark the location of consoles in the base of the tall energy pylons. You can easily spot them, so you don't need coordinates.
• 
  
• The reset point for the pylon coordinates is the Mother Oathstone. This is an ornate pylon at the base of the main stairs.
• 
  

Step 2

Search the rooms on floors -1, -3, -5.

What are we looking for?
The Notes don’t say, but the [item=207730] finds electronic components.

How many parts are we looking for?
The Note says, “find and return all four whole”. The word “whole” is suspicious.

• Hint: There are 6 parts and 6 rooms. You’ll need to combine duplicate parts to create some of the components. You’ll end up with four whole components.

• The parts are hidden in broken urns and vessels found on the floor around the edge of the room.

• You'll see a tiny magnifying glass when you find something. Click. You’ll have a component.

• The parts do not drop from mobs.

Because the floor plans are identical, it's faster to find the side rooms yourself. Then let the [item=207730] search the floor for parts. Mouseover the area where the light beam points.

Step 3

Locate the 4 tall energy pylons in Tyrhold.
At the top of each pylon is a glowing orb and a floating brown ring. See the screenshot.

The four Cogs-Bolts coordinates listed in the [item=208958] mark the location of the control consoles within each pylon. You won’t need to use coordinates to find them.

OK, but what is the Mother Oathstone?
It’s a bejewelled pylon with crossed wings on the plaza near the base of the main stairs. You would have to stand on top of the Oathstone to precisely recalibrate coordinates using the [item=206696].

Step 4

Activate the control consoles at the base of the pylon towers.

The control rooms for two of the pylons are up a long flight of stairs. The control rooms for the other two pylons are at ground level.

Walk over to the control console. A dialog box opens and asks if you want to insert a component. Yes. The correct component is automatically inserted. Leave.

Lock 4

Lock 4 – Orb of Rathmus
*The last lock uses the Orb of Rathmus, which Tithris has. We hope we can bypass this lock to secure the artifact before Tithris can get it. Here is the clue:

*Return the Orb of Rathmus to its consoling rest where Tyr can watch over it from on high.”

*There is a great console at the top of Tyrhold which we both believe is the right place.

Step 1

Fly to the open platform at the top of the Forge-Keep.
There is a giant console on the platform. There’s a glowing empty shape above it – in the shape of a large orb. There’s a quest marker over the console. Accept the quest An Ominous Artifact.

You notice there is an ornate gold chest on the console. Walk around the console and up a few steps. Open the [item=208980]. Strange, there is no loot. Maybe it will interact in some way with the [item=208944].

Didn't I just dig up the Orb?
Yes, you unearthed and restored the [item=208944] from pieces buried on the Stormshroud Peak plateau. You used the Notes in [item=208942] to complete A Curious Orb. But you turned the Orb over to [npc=185562], since [npc=206864] wasn’t at the Rotten Ram Inn.

Step 2

Follow the instructions in An Ominous Artifact:
The quest concisely lists what you need to do to restore the [item=208944] to the titan console.

• Defeat [npc=208640]

• Defeat [npc=185562] and loot the [item=208944]

• Place the [item=208944] on top of the titan console
• 
  
• Retrieve the [item=208944] (and give it to [npc=206864])
• 
  

Conveniently, [npc=208640] and then [npc=185562] spawn up there on the platform. You’ll have help dealing with them as people fly in to complete the quest.

It's a bit strange that you place the [item=208944] in the titan console and then remove it before handing it over to [npc=206864].

Conclusion

[npc=206864] suddenly appears on the platform, along with [npc=207696].

Hand in the quest and you’ve completed Whodunnit? and you receive [item=208152] which teaches you to summon Pattie.
