Found this very difficult because I was unable to see and target mobs from the air. Died twice but with the advice of a friend found a way to get through:
- Fly your mount to the gates of New Avalon. Take it down to ground level and fire the Icy Deathbolts repeatedly as you move forward through the gates and into the town. You will take out dozens of soldiers and probably a few Ballistas (cannons). Your mount will take damage, but slowly.
- Continue moving at ground level through the town until your mount's health is at about 25%. Go back out the gates and out of range of the New Avalon ballistas and soldiers, into the fields of Havenshire. Try to find a clear spot without an elite crusader around.
- Dismount. Summon a new mount, which will appear with full health. Mount and return to New Avalon. Rinse, repeat as needed until you get your 150 soldiers and 10 ballistas.

If you die during this one you will probably want to rez at the gy. If you're in the middle by one of the balistas you'll have a hard time getting out.
If you are anything like me, sometimes you will start a quest about 10 minutes before you have to get ready for work with the intent of finishing the quest when you get home from work. You CANNOT do that with this quest. I was not allowed to fly to Ebon Hold, or to log out of the game until I completed the quest. Not sure if this is a bug or if it always happens, but it happened to me.
I found out that being late due to playing a video game is not a good thing so far as my boss is concerned.

Description
You have slaughtered legions beyond number and still your dark heart craves more. Your hunger knows no end, {name}. <The Lich King pauses.> There must come an end to all things, death knight. The Scarlet armies make their final stand against us. For them, there is no escape... no choice. And for this reason they will fight with a ferocity that you have yet to witness. Use this horn to call forth one of my wyrms. Climb upon its back and command it into battle. With it you will end the Scarlet Crusade.
Where to go
Pins are the quest’s own POI points from the current retail client, projected onto the in-game zone map. The game marks one blob as the quest’s turn-in; the rest are objective areas. Points that fall outside a map’s window are dropped rather than guessed at.

Where this quest fits
Before this quest
Taken from the storyline's own step order.
- The Scarlet Apocalypse
The trap has been sprung, death knight. The armies of Hearthglen and Tirisfal have arrived, just in time to see their enclave in flames! If they turn back now, they fight us with their backs turned. <Mograine shakes his head.> No, they have only one option, which has only one outcome: APOCALYPSE!
After this quest
Taken from the storyline's own step order.
- The Lich King's Command
The Scarlet Enclave is no more. What remains of the Crusade will be dealt with in Northrend. We now turn all of our efforts to Light's Hope Chapel. No longer will this affront to your master be allowed to exist! I have issued my final command.
